Studies that have investigated this question have relied on one-on-one cognitive behavioral therapy to improve levels of optimism, but no large-scale intervention has yet been developed. Further research is necessary to determine whether non-clinical interventions can be used to foster optimism. It stands to reason that changing automatic negative thoughts should be possible in PRP-style interventions for adults, but this is a question that will need to be answered with solid data.
The most successful people in the world actively look for reasons why their failures were their own fault. They’d rather take the ego hit of shouldering the blame, if it means they can find a way to improve their lives by fixing something.
