Power of Positive Attitude Wonder what's on his mind. "ACCENTUATE the positive,” the 1944 song by Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen cheerfully implored us. From Benjamin Franklin’s 1750 Poor Richard’s Almanack (which advised readers that “sorrow is good for nothing but sin”) to today’s parade of motivational speakers, Americans have long embraced an optimistic, “can-do” attitude toward life. Plug “positive thinking” into Amazon.com, and you will find a never-ending supply of products designed to help us see life through rose-colored lenses, including a “Power of Positive Thinking” wall calendar and an “Overcoming Adversity with Encouragement and Affirmation” poster series.

How to Trim Your Beard [VIDEO] Losing a breast to cancer, for example, has led some women to stop pouring all their energies into cultivating perfect bodies. As a result, they discover other interests and talents, such as French literature, tutoring, or race walking. Being forced to give up a high-powered job because of a disabling illness has given other people the time they always wished they had to pursue sculpting, chamber music, gardening, or other passions. We’re not saying that you should wish cancer, heart disease, or AIDS upon yourself, of course; but if you keep an upbeat perspective, even life’s blows can bring rewards beyond your wildest imaginings.
Admittedly, it’s easy to fall into the “everyone fails” trap and become fascinated by tales of the Silicon Valley wonderboys who started in their parents’ garage, failed a hundred times while working on the world’s next break-through and ended up billionaires.
Mindset The benefits of having a growth mindset over a fixed mindset are vast. Here are just a few benefits of the growth mindset that I extracted from Carol Dweck’s book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success.
Personal development begins with self-awareness. You get to know who you really are; your values, beliefs and the purpose you wish to pursue. True fulfilment can never come from chasing other people’s dreams. If you want to achieve lasting happiness, you need to design your life based on who you are. Then you can chase your own goals and objectives. When you are chasing your own goals, there is as much pleasure to be derived from the journey as there is to be derived from reaching your destination. Self-awareness is the first fundamental step in the personal development process.

11 May 2018 What if I fail? Back when I was in year 7, I went through a stage where I failed all of my exams (it lasted most of high school). After a string of failures, my dad sat down with me and asked why I wasn’t trying. My response? I’m scared I’ll fail, so why even try? My dad looked at me and said that was the stupidest excuse he’d ever heard and that it was complete bullshit. He was right and from that day on I never used it as an excuse. Imagine actually thinking that if you put in 100%, you’re going to fail anyway? Thinking back now, it is stupid and anyone who uses it, as an excuse, doesn’t really want their goal.
