I think the biggest thing missing here is probably depth of information (everything feels very surface level - I would've appreciated references to scientific studies and WHY the brain responds to certain kind of stimuli over others), as well as worksheets and "practice problems" (it might be difficult to do real practice problems here by walking through it theoretically, but there's surely a way to frame it that would be useful to people).
We have this bad habit of continually downplaying our successes and not fully appreciating our wins. For example, we may say, “Anyone could memorize positive words,” or “I didn’t increase my happiness as much I wanted to.” But this fails to recognize the effort that you put in—effort that not everyone would put in. These phrases minimize your small successes instead of celebrating them.
How does this work exactly? It’s simple – each of us has a ‘blueprint’ when it comes to our attitude and approach to money. Our blueprints are learned in childhood in 3 major ways: Verbal Conditioning – what we heard; Modeling – what we saw; and Specific Incidents – what we experienced. These patterns go on to shape our financial futures, whether we become rich or not.
